SCC Launches young men empowerment initiative Boys of Spirit and Substance

The Conference Family Life and Men's Ministries of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Trinidad and Tobago launched a brand new program on Sunday, May 5th, aimed at empowering young men. Christened "Boys of Spirit and Substance" (BOSS), the program targets boys between the ages of 13 and 19 and is a dedicated initiative of the Men's Ministries department. The inaugural event was held at the Five Rivers Church and live-streamed for online participation.

The program launch was met with significant enthusiasm. South Caribbean Conference President, Pastor Leslie Moses, lauded the Men's Ministries team, led by Pastor Brathwaite, for "going where no man has gone before" in addressing the specific needs of young men. Pastor Moses emphasized the "desperate need" to support and guide young men, encouraging them to become positive forces within their communities.

The launch event drew young men from across the island, both physically present and participating virtually. Dressed in their new, emblazoned BOSS t-shirts, the young participants actively engaged with the program. Pastor Brathwaite outlined the program's vision and expressed his gratitude to the Men's Ministry Advisory Team, a group of experienced leaders including past director Pastor Wayne Sampson.

The event featured Pastor Clive Dottin as the keynote speaker. Pastor Dottin's message resonated with the young men, as he shared his personal story of perseverance, hope, and the transformative power of faith and strong parental guidance. His message emphasized that success is not determined by circumstance but by mindset – "It's not your geography, it's your mentality."

The launch of BOSS signifies a crucial step towards empowering young men within the Adventist Church and the wider community. All presenters emphasized that the program's success hinges on the collective support of church members. BOSS aspires to not only serve the Adventist youth but also to become a beacon of hope and direction for young men across all of Trinidad and Tobago.
