With sad hearts, we report the passing of Mrs. Monica Mitchell on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Mrs. Monica Mitchell, a beloved figure within the South Caribbean Conference (SCC) and the wider community leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, love, and service.
Mrs Mitchell, 73, was widely known as the devoted wife of the former President of the SCC, Pastor Errol Mitchell. Their intertwined journey in Christian service spanned several decades, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals.
Pastor Errol Mitchell, revered for his dedication and contributions to the SCC, worked as a Minister of Religion within the conference from 1972 to 1999 and also served as an Administrator. His influence extended to the academic realm when he assumed the role of Assistant Professor in the School of Theology and Religion at the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC) from 1999 to 2008. Throughout these years, Mrs. Monica Mitchell stood as his steadfast co-labourer in Christian service, providing unwavering support, comfort, and love to her husband and the various congregations where he served.
The South Caribbean Conference expresses heartfelt condolences to Pastor Mitchell and the family of Sister Monica during this difficult time. To celebrate the life of Mrs. Monica Mitchell, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Mt. D’Or SDA Church, Industrial Lane, Mt. D'Or, San Juan. This service will be a chance for the community to come together and pay their respects to a woman whose kindness and faith left an enduring impact on all those fortunate enough to know her.
