Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – The South Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists recently hosted its prestigious 5th STAR Award Ceremony on Sunday, December 8, 2024. The event, organized by the Personal Ministries Department, brought together church leaders, members, and distinguished guests to honour exceptional service and dedication within the Adventist community.
The evening commenced with an opening prayer, followed by the National Anthem, led by Ps. Lester Joseph. Damian Boodoo and Natruda Campbell were the Master and Mistress of Ceremonies, guiding the audience through an inspiring program. Dr. Nigel Walcott provided a warm welcome and a brief history of the awards before introducing the Conference President, Leslie Moses, who extended greetings and congratulations to all attendees.
A series of musical performances, including a stirring piece by Bro. Samuel Diaz and a heartfelt rendition by Sis. Jael Marie Jones-Blackman set the tone for the evening. The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards, recognising individuals for their outstanding contributions in various areas of ministry. Dr. Yvette Peters, Dr. Simone Walcott, and Dr. Clive Dottin, among others, presented awards to recipients for their exceptional service in Personal Ministries, Ingathering, Lay Bible Work, Youth Evangelism, and more.
The ceremony also featured the prestigious President’s Awards, presented by Pr. Leslie Moses, and the Director’s Awards, presented by Dr. Nigel Walcott, acknowledging remarkable service in Community Services and Personal Ministries.
The evening concluded with a sumptuous dinner, providing an opportunity for fellowship and reflection on the achievements of the honorees. The 5th STAR Award Ceremony underscored the critical role of leadership and ministry within the Adventist Church, celebrating those who have dedicated their lives to serving others.
