Over eighty students graduate in CUC Secondary graduation

The CUC Secondary School held its graduation on Tuesday 27th September 2022 at USC’s Social Sciences Auditorium with 82 students graduating.

The students were decked out in the school’s blue graduation gowns with several students decked out with awards cords and sashes. The School has three Form 5 classes and according to Principal Leslie Hislop, "117 students were eligible for graduation".

The auditorium was draped in lights as the USC IMC Technical team ensured a top-class event with well-controlled stage lighting, sound and video.

School Principal, Leslie Hislop in his welcome address shared that ‘this morning is a return to something we were accustomed to before COVID”. The graduation service’s guest list according to Principal Hislop was affected due to ‘challenging circumstances’ and was live-streamed, allowing many who could not be in physical attendance to be a part of the online audience of over 200.

In his opening address, the Principal gave some statistics regarding the pass rates, indicating there was a drop in the pass rate this year while celebrating the parents and students of the graduating class.

Conference President, Ps Leslie Moses, offered a short congratulatory message on behalf of the Conference and celebrated the achievements of all including mentioning 'young Miss Hislop' ( daughter of the Principal),  ‘young miss Brisbane’ (daughter of CUC Primary School Principal)  and ‘young Miss Jones-Blackman'.

The Feature address was delivered by Denzil Edwards a well-known engaging, animated speaker. His presentation was filled with stories and anecdotes. He reminded the students that:

  • “Being impatient is the worst enemy of ambition."
  • "Patience will teach you how to wait. Patience will let you take the setbacks in stride. ”.
  • "Patience will tell you, you don't have control over everything".

He ended on the note of Encouraging the graduand to "Just Keep Going … ."

The CUC Secondary school is one of two Secondary Schools administrated by the South Caribbean Conference. We give God thanks for providing opportunities for the students to celebrate their achievements. May God continue to guide the graduates as they grow from strength to strength.
