Men’s Ministry Equipping Conference offers a day of fellowship and growth

On August 24, 2024, over 550 men gathered at the Chamber of Commerce Building in Couva for the Men’s Ministries’ Equipping Conference. Despite the rainy weather, the turnout was impressive, reflecting the dedication and enthusiasm of the attendees. The theme for this year’s conference was “The Man and His Traps.”

This event marked the first conference under the leadership of the current Men’s Ministries Director, Pastor Albert Brathwaite. Pastor Brathwaite expressed his deep appreciation for the support from his onsite team and all who contributed to the success of the event. The men sang with great enthusiasm to “Hold the Fort for I Am Coming,” a song from the old Seventh-day Adventist hymnal, which many referred to as ‘our anthem.’

Pastor Brathwaite shared his vision for the Men’s Ministries Department, emphasizing the importance of equipping men to face the challenges of leadership and providing a forum for young men in the church and the wider community to develop.

The program began with registration, where each participant was invited to register and access the day’s program by scanning a QR code, continuing the paperless theme from the last conference session. The event featured several segments, with the main presentation conducted by Union President, Dr. Kern Tobias. Also in attendance were Pastor Leslie Moses, President of the South Caribbean Conference, and several district pastors who came to support the ministry.

The presentations were interspersed with musical performances by members such as Brother Otis Baird, Brother Samuel Diaz, and the St. Hillaire Brothers, along with several prayer segments. Pastor Tobias’ presentation included poignant personal reflections on his growth as a leader and a man, resonating deeply with the audience. Throughout the day, there were also presentations by ministers Pastor Floyd Edwards, Pastor Albert Brathwaite, and Dr. Andy Manzano.

The conference was not just a day of presentations but also a day of fellowship, providing an opportunity for men to connect and support each other. For more resources and information, visit the Men’s Ministries website.
