The La Ruffin Adventist community in Moruga is gearing up for a momentous occasion as the La Ruffin Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church prepares to dedicate its new building to the honour and glory of God. The journey leading to this significant milestone has been filled with determination, faith, and the unwavering commitment of its members.
The story of La Ruffin SDA Church's dedication is a testament to the power of faith and the determination of a community to bring the gospel to their part of the world. The journey began when the members of the La Savanne SDA churches recognized the need to share their faith with the people of La Rufin. Transporting individuals from La Rufin to the church presented a challenge, as they had to carry them on the back of van trays. However, when law enforcement officials began enforcing regulations, members were prompted to find an alternative way to fulfil their mission.
The solution was a brilliant one: establish a church in the heart of the La Rufin community. Leading the charge were Br. Badrie and Br. Saga, who tirelessly conducted fieldwork in the area, pedalling from place to place on bicycles, spreading the message of hope and faith.
In 2008, the foundation of the La Ruffin SDA Church was laid, with only a tent to shelter the early gatherings. Although there was a brief pause in fellowship, the church gained momentum after a crusade with Br. Lewis in October 2011, resulting in the baptism of about 10 individuals. From there, the church grew steadily, eventually counting 15 dedicated members who gathered at the same spot where the church stands today. Since then, services have continued without interruption, and through the hard work and dedication of its members, the church became an organized company in 2018.
Now, in 2023, the La Ruffin SDA Church stands as a testament to the power of faith and the commitment of its members. The church has experienced continuous growth, and it is on the cusp of a new chapter as it seeks to become a fully-fledged Seventh-day Adventist church, complete with its dedicated building.
The administration of the South Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists invites everyone to join in the celebration of the La Ruffin SDA Church's dedication. The service will take place on Sunday, November 5, 2023, beginning at 3:00 p.m. The church is located at LP# 36 La Ruffin Road, Gran Chemin, Moruga.
