The South Caribbean Conference Health Ministries Department partnered with the Maloney Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday, April 14th, 2024, to host a well-received first aid and CPR training session.
The event, held on the church grounds, attracted over 45 participants, primarily from the surrounding communities of Dabadie, Arouca, and Maloney. Attendees included Adventist church district members, members of the local Police Youth Club, and representatives from other youth groups.
An interactive CPR training session, led by Mr. McCabe of the local American Heart Association, utilized full-scale mannequins to provide hands-on experience. Additionally, two fire officers were present to share crucial first-aid knowledge.
The South Caribbean Conference Health Ministries Director reported a strong community turnout, with "about 8 to 10 church members on site, with everyone else being a community member." The Director further noted the community's appreciation for the program, with many expressing a desire for more such outreach initiatives. Feedback indicated a high level of satisfaction, with comments like "very satisfied" and appreciation for the program's execution. A suggestion for incorporating a quiz component into future Health Ministry outreach presentations on first aid information was also received.
The Health Ministries team expressed its sincere gratitude to the Health Ministries Secretary of the Maloney SDA Church, who played a pivotal role "in pulling things together and interacting with the community." This program was a successful outcome of the church's ongoing community outreach efforts.
